Our Premise

  • Nigeria possesses huge agro-industrial potentials which include her vast agricultural lands, inland water bodies, bordering Atlantic Ocean, substantial array of flora and fauna, and diverse agro-climatology.
  • Agriculture is, and will remain, a critical source of livelihood for the overwhelming majority of Nigerians for decades to come.
  • Agro-industries combine large portions of the agricultural, food, bioresource and manufacturing sectors of the economy. It unarguably represents the single most potent area of human activity for the transformation of the Nigerian economy.
  • Nigeria remains a net importer of food products because agro-industrial processing and utilisation have not been fully developed.
  • Agro-processing activities are labour-intensive, generate higher value added than unprocessed agricultural produce and can significantly facilitate import substitution initiatives.
  • Increasing agro-industrial operations nationally will expand the markets for primary agricultural products; add value through vertical integration of primary production and food processing systems.
  • Industrial processing of Nigeria’s agricultural products is critical for national food security, overall economic development and the diversification of the nation’s income base.
  • Provide commercially competitive technologies for agro-industrial operators and stakeholders (farmers, processors, industrialists and related entrepreneurs), thereby increasing incomes and creating employment along the food chains.
  • Provide the processing expertise and cutting-edge technologies for accelerating general value addition through the industrial processing of the country’s agricultural produce and bioresources.
